Each holiday season Texas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation sponsors a giving program called “Celebrate Our Memories” in partnership with TCMH Hospice of Care.

celebratetreeBeginning in November, a nine-foot Christmas tree is placed in the front lobby of the hospital, which is decorated with various shaped ornaments that are “gifted” and inscribed with the name or a message in honor or in memory of someone special in their life. The Foundation divides all funds generated by the program with another TCMH entity-Hospice of Care, so the Christmas program actually benefits two local charitable organizations. The “Celebrate Our Memories” program took the place of the “Let Our Light Shine” program that TCMH has held on the hospital’s campus in recent years.

As part of Celebrate Our Memories, those who “gift” an ornament are invited to keep the ornament as a personal keepsake of their memory at the end of the holiday season, after the tree is removed from the hospital’s front lobby.

The TCMH Hospice of Care Team

The TCMH Hospice of Care Team

The TCMH Healthcare Foundation’s annual Chili Cook-Off has become one of the premier fundraising events in Texas County and the surrounding area. The annual event is held in early November and all funds raised stay in the local community to benefit TCMH Hospice of Care patients and their family members. Since its inception in 2007, the event has raised over $650,000 to help with hospice patient care resources. In an effort to directly enhance patient care, funds raised have been utilized to acquire specialized air mattresses, reclining sleeper chairs for hospice inpatient rooms, and provided 24/7 hospice physician coverage as well as other vital resources.

TCMH Healthcare Foundation Golf Tournament

The TCMH Healthcare Foundation hosts a charitable golf tourney each year in early June. Funds raised have provided scholarships for several local students to pursue additional educational training in health-related career fields. Traditionally, the event has been played at Houston Municipal Golf Course in Houston, MO. The format is a two-person scramble with tee-off times slated for 8 AM and 1 PM.  Sponsorships are already being received for this year’s event and golfers are signing up.  Make plans to join us but don’t wait long, as the tourney field fills up each year!

For more information, to sponsor or to reserve a place in next year’s tournament, contact Jeff Gettys at (417) 967-1377 or 1-866-967-3311, ext. 4202

The TCMH Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors recognizes the importance of having well-trained and qualified healthcare professionals.  As a result, the Foundation has identified healthcare-related scholarships as one of the organization’s focus areas.  By assisting students in their educational endeavors, the Foundation hopes that students will return to or stay in the Texas County area to provide healthcare services to area residents after receiving additional education.

The Texas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation has opened the application window for $9,000 in educational scholarships for the fall 2021 academic year.

The TCMH Youth Ambassador program is about area high school and college students exploring medical career opportunities and developing workplace skill sets while volunteering their time at the hospital.  The program has had wonderful participation from area schools since its inception. Youth Ambassadors have volunteered approximately 10,000 hours at the hospital since the program began in December 2009.

To further support the Youth Ambassador program, the Healthcare Foundation established an endowed scholarship fund in 2015.  The scholarship awards are made on an annual basis to outstanding ambassadors from the program.  Many local community partners and organizations have helped to grow the scholarship fund and better reward deserving area youths.  We are very thankful for their continued support!
