The TCMH Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors recognizes the importance of having well trained and qualified healthcare professionals.  As a result, the Foundation has identified healthcare-related scholarships as one of the organization's focus areas.  By assisting students in their educational endeavors, the Foundation hopes that students will return to or stay in the Texas County area to provide healthcare services to area residents after receiving additional education.

The TCMH Healthcare Foundation Educational Scholarship Program is designed to assist all students that are pursuing or planning to pursue education in a healthcare related field that involves direct patient care.  Currently, the TCMH Healthcare Foundation plans to award two $1000 scholarships in the spring and two $1000 scholarships in the fall.

The Foundation has received gifts to help set-up two endowed scholarships.  Created in 2010, both the Dr. Joe L. and Judith T. Spears Memorial Scholarship and Dr. Eugene Charles Honeywell Memorial Scholarship will provide additional opportunities for students.  The amounts offered will be determined annually.

To apply, students must be accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited university, college, or post-secondary training program.  Any resident of the Texas County Memorial Hospital (TCMH) service area (40 mile radius of Houston) is eligible to apply, with priority consideration given to Texas County residents or high school graduates of a Texas County school.  Priority consideration is also extended to Mtn. Grove residents or high school graduates of the Mtn. Grove R-III School District.  Preference may also be given to eligible staff with a current 90 day history of satisfactory employment at TCMH.   Preferences may be given to community service, scholastic record, and work performance.

The Healthcare Foundation hosts an annual golf tournament to raise money for the scholarships. In addition, the Healthcare Foundation is also able to set up scholarships that are named in memory or in honor of someone.  For more information, please contact Jay Gentry at 417-967-1377 or  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
